I love shooting engagement portraits. They are great because they allow you get to know a couple and allows the couple to get to know you, with out the stress of wedding day. All engaged couples should do an engagement session with their wedding photographer so that they know what to expect when they will be shooting together on the wedding day. They are so much more relaxed and we always have the best times at engagement shoots!
This engagement session turned out to be even better than we had hoped for because we got such amazing and different shooting conditions in the same session. I have known Johnny and Cora since they where kids, my brother played baseball with Johnny and I went to school with Cora’s older sister. Johnny and Cora will be tying the knot in June at a private estate in Lake Matthews, so for their engagement session Cora wanted something that was a completely different look. So we headed up the mountain to Lake Arrowhead for our session. As I headed up the mountain, I was taken a back because it was ridiculously foggy! I’ve shot in Lake Arrowhead several times and have never had these types of conditions, let alone in the late afternoon! When we got to our first location the fog was still pretty heavy, but it looked amazing! I’ve never had the opportunity to shoot in the fog, but it gave us a really cool look. Cora wanted some lake photos as well, so we headed to the next location. To get to the next location, we had to head a little higher up the mountain. This actually brought us up out of the fog and we were able to get some amazing shots with the lake in the background. Enjoy!
